SMOKIN’!

Image depicts a black BMW motorcycle parked inside a cluttered garage. The motorcycle features a classic design with a round headlight, chrome accents, and a visible engine block. The front wheel is turned slightly to the left, and the bike rests on its kickstand. The garage is filled with various items, including a camouflage backpack on the floor, a bicycle partially visible on the left, and shelves with tools and boxes in the background. The floor is concrete, and the walls are made of brick and wood. Natural light enters through a window on the right, casting soft shadows across the scene.

This BMW R1150R arrived mostly working, but very tatty and throwing out a lot of smoke. Other than that, it is just showing a lot of wear and tear in all the usual places.

Image depicts a workshop setting with a partially disassembled motorcycle prominently positioned on a wooden workbench. The motorcycle features a black and silver color scheme, with the front headlight and handlebars intact, while the engine and other components are exposed, indicating ongoing repair or maintenance work. The background includes various tools and equipment scattered on shelves, with a framed picture hanging on a corrugated metal wall. The workshop is well-lit, with natural light streaming in from a large window, and other vehicles and machinery are visible in the background, contributing to the industrial atmosphere.

It’s partway through an engine rebuild; which is taking forever. Largely because we moved to our new workshop, which then needed rearranging, then rearranging again. But now things are arrange how we want them (maybe), we can crack on getting the engine running well before addressing the rest of the bike.

Naturally, the exhaust studs were completely corroded and broke off in the cylinders…
